Valentine’s Day is all about hearts, roses, Cupid, chocolates, and of course love. Thinking back to the Valentine’s Days spent at Harding University, I remember it being either the best day ever for those with significant others or the worst reminder of being alone for those without a valentine. Walking into your dorm, the front desk would be swimming in floral bouquets, balloons, and stuffed animals. It looked like Cupid came in and barfed everywhere. It was annoying. It was disgusting. It was sugary-sweet, and sappy. And I know this may come as a surprise, but sadly, none were ever left for me. (You can put the violins away, I survived.)
But, Valentine’s Day is more than hearts, roses, and a flying baby in a diaper. It’s a day designated to tell those special to you how much you love them. Whether you’re in a relationship or not, Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be just for lovers. Use it as a day to let those that mean the most to you know how you feel. And then know that you are loved more than anything by your creator. “For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
A man is not where he lives, but where he loves. ~Latin Proverb
And if you can have a pretty valentine inspired wreath to welcome you into that lovely dwelling place…. even better! I found a few examples of easy DIY wreaths that you can use to welcome your loved ones into your home, teachers could welcome their little cherubs into the classroom, or love struck college students could add them to jazz up their dorm room door.
Happy crafting, Lovebirds! XO Heather
